Anne Smith's Efforts

I spent all day yesterday working with my brother creating drain lines to correct a water problem and tiled in that wonderful dirt from Gus at Iberia Gardens. Today, I tilled (with my small Honda tiller-what a joy to use!) some more and planted daylilies and society garlic that I brought from FLA!

I cannot move right now but what I good feeling! I now have some plants around the front of my house! Yea!!

I have such a long way to go in this yard - sometimes it seems impossible. In Florida, all I had to do was dump in bags of Black Cow and it produced a great mixture for plants! And I could do the digging!

My brother's friend has this HUGE tiller and he used it yesterday to create a bed in the front. It was a
monster and there was no way I could have handled it myself. This ground is like concrete!

Now, I have to dig up half of the dirt, move it somewhere and till in some of Gus's dirt-maybe by next year, I will have the beds ready to plant!! Just hope that can keep the 100 pots of plants alive that I brought from FL!

I know that you said that you collected rain water-I have gutters, so I am going to have to figure out how to rig up some sort of collection system. I hate seeing that good water just pouring out-AND creating a drainage problem for me!!

Keep me posted on the (Longfellow-Evangeline State Park - New Entrance Island)project and when we will meet.
